This mod was inspired by the Blokkit mod. It basically adds one new mob into the game: the blockling. This cute little guy will spawn randomly around your world on grass in most biomes (you can change the spawn rate in the config file). You can tame them with flowers and they will grow and level up as they attack other mobs in the world. Along with that they have their own little inventory where they can carry things for you, plus it is the place you apply upgrades to them.

Guide:
The first thing you need to do is find a blockling, or spawn one in I suppose. They spawn in forests or plains biomes and are only able to be tamed with flowers by right clicking, both small and tall. However, once you have actually tamed your blockling don’t throw away your flowers because they can be used to heal your blockling if they get hurt, simply by right clicking again. From here there isn’t much you can do except get training. If you hit a mob (excluding creepers and ghasts) then your blockling will start to attack said mob. Upon attacking they will gain experience from and eventually gain enough to level up. When they level up they will not only get a boost to their stats but also grow slightly up to level 10 when they won’t grow any larger. You can also level them up using the blockling level-uperer from the creative tab just by right clicking on your blockling. If you are venturing somewhere very dangerous and don’t want to risk your blockling then just right click them to make them sit.
This is where it gets a bit more interesting. If you haven’t already figured it out, then shift right click on your blockling to upon their GUI. This displays their stats and their upgrade slots. To get upgrading then you will probably want to start by making some regular upgrades. These are made using a specific material depending on what level of upgrade you want. The recipes are all the same shape-wise, which is just a cross of the upgrade’s material (so diamond for a diamond upgrade) and then in each corner, one of the previous upgrades materials. This image might make it a little clearer.
Once you have crafted your upgrade you can apply it via the upgrade slot on the middle left of the blockling’s GUI. However, there are a couple of rules you must know of. You can only apply the next upgrade when the blockling is the required level. Wood at level 2, cobblestone at level 3, stone at level 4, iron at level 5, lapis at level 6, gold at level 7, diamond at level 8, emerald at level 9 and obsidian at level 10. Each upgrade gives your blockling a slight boost in stats which all adds up to make one tanky block.
You might also have noticed the other set of upgrades on the right. These are more special upgrades, split into categories; health, damage and speed. You must apply these in order again, but, your blockling doesn’t have to be a specific level to apply these types of upgrades. The order you need to apply them is easy(ish) to remember. You start with health, then damage, then speed, and slowly increase through the tiers. So health tier 1, damage tier 1, speed tier 1, health tier 2… and so on. They don’t actually have crafting recipes though, you can only get them in dungeons and temples, with each tier being rarer than the last. This allows for epic journeys on the hunt for the ultimate upgrades for the ultimate blockling. They all do what you think they do, except for the tier 3 upgrades. The speed only has a biggish increase in speed, but the health upgrade adds a regen ability and the damage upgrade adds fire aspect attacks.
Finally, once your blockling reaches level 10 they gain the ability to wield swords and shurikens. They go into the respective slots in the top corners and add a little something to their attacks. The swords increase their damage even more and the shurikens add a ranged attack which can be quite useful when fighting tougher enemies. The swords used are just your regular swords but the shurikens are unique and have their own recipe which is just 4 iron ingots and a gold nugget for a stack of 16.
One last ability of blocklings is that when they die in battle they will drop a small blockling item. This item, which will called whatever your blockling was named previously, can be right clicked on the ground, like a spawn egg, to spawn your blockling in again. This way you don’t have to worry as much about losing your level 10 blockling that you spent years trying to level up. However, it comes at a cost. The most recent upgrades applied will be lost, so if you had an obsidian blockling with a tier three speed upgrade then that and obsidian upgrade would be lost, along with the weapons that they had. You also have to sacrifice 2 and half hearts and hunger to spawn them back in, and will be unable to do so if you don’t have sufficient of either. On top of this, you can shift right click with a flower in hand to turn your blockling into an item aswell. However, this time they won’t lose any upgrades but still costs you health and hunger. This is necessary for going through portals and also can come in quite handy anyway.
